    megger selection

    Any recommendations on a megger.
One thats sole purpose is to test motors insulation resistance on chillers. Like Megger MIT300.
Not a multifunction meter like fluke 1587.

    here is my favorite: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/AMP...XG3?Pid=search

it includes memory locations and a timer to use 'Polarization' type megging.
"Right" is not the same as "Wise".

What's wrong with the 1587? That's what I have an it works great, it's just the 1507 with meter components built into it. Although it is incredibly expensive.

I think a rule of thumb is 1 kohm per volt the motor is rated for.
