Well lessee... My YJ 69075 has been working for 6+ years... pulled down a new coil/AC unit today to about 250 microns with my Appion TEZ8 pump... in about 15 min... through a manifold... no CRT's used. Rose to around 400 or so... figure that was good enough for resi work.

Guess I do not need another vacuum gauge.

From what I've been told about their reliability by several people that have owned them, you are probably right.

I still wouldn't feel right giving it away to someone. In 5646's defense he did say he never used it

One of the things I (and it would appear others) have learned here at H-talk:

When looking to purchase a piece of equipment or a tool; read some threads! Look at HOW the tool/equipment is used (resi, comm, refer, supermarket, etc), and pick one or two items other folks use and like.
Sometimes the 'feature set' may or may not be to one's liking... however reliability, dependability, and accuracy probably will be the + features one ends up with.

As an example: Digital gauge sets: I read endless reviews, then I asked here at H-talk which one was the toughest and most accurate... DigiCool came out on top. Other units have cool features (built in micron gauge for example) however the DC seems to work and work and work and work, etc. Made my choice... and have used it for over 6 years. Not sure if any of the units available in the Spring of 2007 would have lasted that long.

I own the JB supernova among many others micron gauges, I had compare it against Thermal, Tif and Yellow J and the JB supernova performed excellent, it responds slower than the rest to a loss of vacuum but I factor that into it.been using it for two years.
