    Testing wires load capacity

Wow , where to begin ....

This is probly the worst case i've come across

We have a 60 amp fuse panel , originally designed for a 865 Sq ft house with nothing but a stove and recs..... now running a Heat Pump with 5kw , and more ...

But , we cant get the # 6 wire to attach in the box , so lets run a # 12 wire , and wire nut it to the # 6

Lets add a washer rec , and a Hot Water heater , and misc other recs , on a 30 amp breaker below the panel , feeding that is 2 of # 12 blue n yellow stranded

Dryer wire wont fit , so lets run that up and tie into the main unfused feed

Oh now we need power the OD unit , ok lets add a fused disconnect , install it upside down ( yes it currently ON ) and run # 12 to that , then # 6 to the OD unit.

Forgot to take pics of the PILE of burnt 30 amp screw in resetable fuses

I see someone put a new panel in.

Amazing what folks do with electricity... and fuss when you tell them it is not right.

'Well it worked all these years...'

I guess some people are too cheap to do it right...the only problem is...doing it right is cheaper than burning your house down.

...or a handyman homeowner did it himself.

They don't have to know what they're going to be doing incorrectly after perusing the electrical aisles and filling up their shopping cart at the "big box" manly man's store.

Isn't it nice when you get on a plane to go somewhere and as the plane starts down the runway to take off you think to yourself. DAMN, this was built by the lowest bidder.

Some folks seem to think this is not even an issue... cause the govt will make it right (I wonder sometimes if they even think as far as 'if you get hurt').
