Finishing my schooling at floridaHVACtech.com. Mostly doing service calls and system installs for the last 2 1/2 weeks of school. I have learned a lot, but exposure to field work has shown me there is more to know than can be taught in 8 weeks.
Was an IT guy for ~10 years and then went into a special job for 10 years at Kennedy Space Center. The space shuttle program was shut down and I, like many others, was thanked for my dedicated work and shown the door. Due to my 10 years of specialization I was unable to obtain work as an IT guy and knew it was time for a career change.
Central Florida gets hot and muggy in the summer and airborne salt spray corrosion eats the condenser units near the beach quickly. I see no shortage of demand for a qualified competent HVAC tech, except for perhaps the Florida version of "winter".
Looking forward to getting up to speed with some help from this forum. Thank you for everyone that takes the time to comment on problem service calls.
