After Deciding To Light My Lower Level Gas Fireplace To Prime Its Flue (creating Positive Pressure To Stop The Downflow Of Smoke From Adjacent Flue). I Noticed That The Pilot And Burner Would Shut Off After 8 To 10 Minutes. After Removing All Logs And Cleaning Everything (orifices',burners, pilot) The Problem Still Continued. The Pilot Ran By Itself Forever But Only 10 Minutes With Burner On. Studied Pilot, Decided Burner Flame Was Pulling Pilot Flame Off Of Thermocouple. Turned Down Flame Setting (once Burner Lit) To 80 Percent And Problem Was Solved. After A Half Hour I Could Turn Up Flame All The Way With No Problems. Downdraft Was Dancing The Flames Too Much I Guess.
Question: When Burner Is Turned Down To 80 Percent, The Gas Valve Hisses Much Louder. Is This Normal? Safe? Comments On This Story?
