    Old Tranes to New Lennox, RTU retro.

    Just a job we did last week. Few photos of the before and then a few of the after. Electrical done by others.
    KCC Curbs came through perfect on those transitions. These Energence L-Series Lennox's with the Prodigy are just a breeze to commission and program.

    Those lennox are nice units. What's with the filter drier on that old Trane?

    The SLFD on the old Trane is my doing. Major burn out on the 2nd stage compressor last summer. Replaced compressor and not enough room to add an over-sized suction line filter. I was taught to think outside the box...literally. I have a bunch of commercial units I will do this on for ease of access or if space is limited. Usually will use shell type and globe valves. Just sweated in a monster on this one and let her run.

    Originally we just replaced the 25 ton larger unit, first pictured.

    The owner was so incredibly impressed with the efficiencies, look, ease of maintenance, and L-Connect software, the next week we engineered, ordered, and a week after that replaced both those smaller 15 ton units.

    Looks great. How old were those Trane units they replaced -- around 25 years I'm assuming (by their looks)?

    Serial on all three units starts with J83G.....so all three were manufactured in July of 1983. So just about 30 years old.

    Very nice, you do not see many Lennox rooftops here but it is a blessing when we do.

    Is that flex pipe for the gas line?

    Wish we could use our electrician. Building owner got bids from other companies. Guess he went with the lowest. They did not do too bad of a job. Just not too clean with their liquid tight to my factory disconnects.

    The end unit, at time of photo, had a temporary CSST line ran to it for start-up and commissioning. Since then, the proper length of hard pipe was cut and threaded to get within 24". Here, due to earthquakes, it is code to utilize a flex connector. As in the first unit, we use a Dormant series flex connector.

    Im curious to how that change effected their utility bill... I'll PM ya sometime, Im curious about the L connect software and I'd like to pick your brain a bit

    I'm curious what the curb adapted does to the airflow because it looks like the unit is sitting 90deg to how the trane was.

    Lucky if they get 15 years of service out the Lennox RTU's. techs seem to like them cause they are service friendly, I found the Lennox to be problematic, the heat exchangers dont last, the TXV's starve the evap, the draft inducer transformer are a fire waiting to happen and to top it all Lennox has its own service/installation crew competing with you for the same work. I will never quote a Lennox!
