Can't say about LG for sure but most minis do run the fan constantly.

I have a LG Art Cool Mirror 1 ton. I just turned it on for the season. The fan never stops running I notice but the compressor does.
This was installed last year to cool a large upstairs room. The room has 2 AC vents from the Central Unit but in Texas during summer the upstairs needs help. It's a pretty big room. I don't mind the fan running per-se' because the LG unit is on the opposite end of the the room from the vents and the stairwell. So it pulls air across the room when cold air from the vents would tend to just drop down the stairwell.
Still... is it supposed to operate that way? The manual for these units are not very good. Or is the fan supposed to turn off when the compressor does like my central unit does.
This compressor has the inverter technology which I think means the compressor operates at multi speeds. Maybe the running fan is part of that?
Thank you for your help.

which fan are you talking about, inside or outside?
how do you know the compressor is off?

I don't know LG that well, but most mini splits can be set to only run when cooling or heating is needed, but the default setting is virtually always for the fan to be running.
The air temperature sensor they use for control is in the air handler, so if you have it set so the fan turns off, it can/will affect the temperature swing in the room, and the cycling of the unit.
Thanks JimJ and Mark. Appreciate it.
I will have to replace my main carrier SR 22 unit in the near future. It is 5 tons. Hopefully, I will downsize that a bit with a separate unit upstairs. Rough estimate on sq footage says maybe 3.5 tons although my ceilings are 10 ft instead of 8.
