    What is a 597?
If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

The fitter test or service test? Service, you probably don't have a chance.

Was this to get into the apprenticeship program? I think you need to be in the top 2-3% in L.A. to get in. Study again and take the test again. My guess is that at 393 you haven't a chance of getting in. Sorry.

Yup I don't know. Seeing other guys coming in at 190 out of 1000 makes me feel better. But I called up the union hall yesterday and they are saying that the Bp refinery job in Indiana, (the main route for apprentices) might close the deal with fitters this summer. So anyone know what's that about?

Call your local or look it up on their website (if they post it). Here the apprenticeship program follows the community college schedule. Classes start in the fall and end in the spring.

First off, there is no such thing as a "pipe fitting" company. Secondly, if there was such a company it could not exist in Chicago non union. What type of work do you want to do?
