Sorry I misunderstood what the Cimco guy said. They bought the rights to the CO2 racks for rinks ( that is what I was told anyway). They did not buy Carnot.

Are these systems using hot water reclaim tanks?

Provide 60-100 cfm of fresh air when occupied to purge indoor pollutants and keep window dry during cold weather. T-stat setup/setback +8 hrs. saves energy
Use +Merv 10 air filter. -Don't forget the "Golden Rule"

We are using a plate exchanger to pre-heat the domestic hot water in the store. I think it's rated at 48000 btuh, but I don't see that lasting long before it fouls up.

What kind of horsepower are you guys running out west on your CO2 racks?
From my understandings in Ontario, TSSA didn't like trans critical racks being more then 100hp (pretty sure it was 100) which caused some design changes.

We are 120hp. Anything more than 100hp requires a proper cement mechanical room and an 'Engineer' onsite. Fortunately for the store, there are no commercial inspectors in Alberta.

TSSA don't like any rack over 100hp without having a power engineer on site full time.
Difficult with these set ups as the MT side and the LT side are piped together unlike a cascade where you can get away with it.(i wanna have a look at one now and see what the power of all motors are??)

Do any of these have the old reliable Therma-Sor tank/heat exchanger that is not as sensitive as the plate heat exchange to lime buildup?

Hey there, I wrote the original story on the CO2 supermarkets in the US and Canada for R744.com and would love to hear more from you guys about your experiences with CO2 for another R744 article about CO2 refrigeration in North America. Do you have an case studies, pics, technical info about your installations you could send me?

I would love to find out more about the CO2 transcritical system for an article for R744.com. Would you be interested in providing more details and pictures for a feature story?

probably have to make one, Carnot, the former CSC group and advansor have all done Ice rinks with CO2, not sure of your tonnage you are thinking about but Chillers are out there, mainly custom jobs though, not sure of your ambient temps in the summer but TC co2 is not that efficient right now when you go past the critical point, and really under that it's still just the same old refrigeration just fancier controls and smaller pipes!
