Hot Water from Heat Recovery Unit on 18 SEER HP

I have an Amana 18 SEER HP with VSAH. My previous HP was a 10 SEER Carrier and I had a Heat Recovery Unit hooked up to assist heating hot water. The installer of my present unit said because of the high SEER, it wouldn't supply enough heat to make it worth while. The water lines are still in place but their not connected to the HP.

Since then, I've received conflicting opinions whether it's worthwhile to re-connect the HP lines to the HR unit. I was going to call Amana & get their opinion but thought I'd check you guys first since there are a lot of experts on this forum.

    Thanks
