    Reversing valve or txv

Diagnosing a Trane 5ton packaged heat pump Suction pressure will not go above 60. Reversing valve very sluggish furring changeover. Any thoughts

With a 5-Ton heat pump there may not be enough airflow heatload to load the coil & suction pressure above 60-psig.

Also, could be somewhat low on refrigerant.

There are a number of components in the refrigerant system; besides the TXV & reversing valve; that need checking.

The systems airflow should be checked first, then subcooling & superheat should be checked.
Also, check the temperature rise off the outdoor unit & the temp-drop indoors between Return air & supply air, along with the % of relative humidity; the indoor humidity level is critical to know when trouble shooting a system.

All the system pressures need to be checked...

Some indicators will begin to show-up.
