    The Amanda Knox Case

I would like to hear some opinions on the retrial in Italy. I personally think it sounds like an unfair witch hunt and if they start calling for extradition the US government needs to tell them the get jacked.

I know very little about the case but there is Dna evidence she was there. Maybe not Involved in the act but present.

If you were the victims' father would you feel different?

Isn't she being tried in Italy?

Do they have the same constitutional protection against that?

    Somehow, I doubt it.

I guess we will have to look into the U.S. extradition treaty clauses then.
I would be willing to bet there is one for double jeopardy in there.

European law prevents double jeopardy unless new evidence is presented, or the previous trial was "perverted"

I believe they're retrying her based on the former.
Italy has some differences in their rules of evidence.

50/50 chance she was involved...... and I think that they might put the squeeze on the ex bf who is an italian I believe.....and you never know what he may say when facing a life behind bars.....

I dont know if they have any new evidence or not......but I dont think they would have brought this back up if they didnt have some sort of reason.

You have a valid point, If I were in Victims fathers' shoes I'd probably tell them if she is the culprit then get me results, however if she's not leave her alone and find the real killer and get me results. Maybe I'm reading too much into it and not all countries are out to get US citizens.

I don't have any opinion on her guilt or innocence, or really care anymore, but she lived there, so it would be expected that her DNA would be all over the place.
If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

I think victim's families automatically believe persecutors because they sound convincing and the family wants someone to pay for their loss. Actually I've never seen a victim's family not back the prosector.

The family claims they want justice when really all they want is someone's head.

Sorry. I had first hand experience with this and it left a lasting scare on me.

If I remember correctly there was a 3rd person who confessed to the murder while he was in jail.
