New to the forum and new to the trade.
I have been with a factory service group for about a year as an apprentice and I've been lucky to be on lots of interesting jobs, mostly dealing with chillers. I get curious about the specifics of some of the jobs and I find myself doing research on my own time for alternative solutions and information and this research seems to help with my understanding of the systems that I am working on and hopefully will make me a better mechanic.
Currently I am working with a journeyman on a job that originally started as an overhaul on a early 90's CVHE chiller that has been converted to R123.
The Trane original serial number is L93C03034. The chiller is a CVHE050 that has UCP1 controls.
As the job evolved, it turned into an Adaptiview upgrade, along with other items such as chill/condenser water isolation valves. Currently we have reached the end of the controls update and during testing last Friday we found that the oil pump would not start and was pulling high amperage while trying to start.
I think that the current relay 1K8, that was reused from the original UCP1 panel, isn't working correctly. I am not getting any current through the start winding when the motor is commanded to start.
Trane says it is a RLY00853 or superseded RLY01888. I've checked with parts and they would have to order in. I was wondering if anyone knew of a field replacement current relay that would work. I cannot find any information on the relay that would allow me to purchase it locally.
Thanks again for any help.
