anyone else getting old?

i spent the last couple weeks dragging cast iron rad's around with 20 somethings. man do i feel old. i get the feeling i am beginning the end of my career. nobody needs a old guy with a sore back. oh woe is me.

You should do what I do.

You just point and say, "let's put that one over there!"

Then, when they are too slow, I show them up. None of them can believe I am as strong as I am. It's like I'm Clark Kent.

oh the woe of cast iron rad.... I'm old without dragging them anymore.... we don't do retrofit or new hydronics install. or at least they're not sending me in....

I'm just about 50 years now and I've been new construction and service for 15 years, now office for the past 18 months.
Put on at least 10 pounds and feel week when I do have to carry my bag on emergency service calls.
I'd do something, but I'm toooo tired. ha ha

I traded my service van for a pickup and office keys a couple of years ago, because I just couldn't do it anymore. My brain is still sharp, probably sharper than it ever was, but my body is toast. So now, I do white glove stuff (startups, problematic troubleshooting, engineering fixes.) We still have something to offer, but it isn't lugging cast iron rads all day. I helped the boys wrestle a couple of boilers into the basement of a nursing home last week, I hurt for days.

That's sure the truth! Not that I'm a great example a 26 but I understand.

I worked a full day in the office on friday (7-5) then went to a jobsite and a tech and I pulled wire until midnight then I wired up some valves on the roof while he installed controllers. We were done at 4:30 and my 60 yo hands and feet were sore.

Broke my back 7 years ago. I don't do as much strenuous stuff as I used to, but my body lets me know when I've done something wrong.

Mid 50s here. You get to know what is going to hurt before you do it. For some reason, I do it anyway.
And this is just in the school. It's still better than throwing freight for the big box companies.

You know your getting older when you replace a Heating and Air system you installed 20+ years ago, but you just can't remember installing it. LOL! Live long and prosper.

This happened to me last summer. I was walking around this facility with that deja vu feeling trying to price a replacement. I took off an access panel to get equipment info and found the startup report with my writing on it and my initials. Huh. Who knew.
