I sure hope there's insulation on ALL of those wires

Came across this gem last fall.. Wasn't much fun to work on especially since the building had a brown out and killed both compressors.

At one time, it really wasn't as bad as that. Someone started clipping wire ties and this is the end result.

Easier to trace wires, all the ties are cut.. looks like ****, but it is what it is.

Well, the worst part of this jumble is that I made sure to clean everything up before I jumped in there with a torch to change the compressor and I bet I removed over half of the wiring in there. Most of it literally ran off to no where and alot of it wasn't connected to anything or it was connected to a contactor/relay/cap. that wasn't attached/controlling anything. I'll have to grab a picture when I go up there for spring P.M. this year.

Oh trust me, I tried. The cost of the 2 new compressors could've probably come close to buying them a new one and I tried telling them that and they just wouldn't have it. Change both compressors and about a month later one of the condensor motors went out. I took the call, changed the motor, then they asked why we didn't just recommend buying a whole new unit for what they've invested into this one.

I bet most of the wires that went to no where probably went to safties that were bypassed.

Your pricing for the compressor replacement was too low.
