Why do we have so many liberals in a free socity?
That is a question that baffles logical thinking people. Basically the Democratic party appeals to “special interests groups” i.e.: feminists, racial minorities who want special rights and privileges, folks on welfare, gay or lesbians, wacko environmentalists, some religious groups who believe in world government or that it is sinful to process more than your fellow man regardless of the circumstances.
To add to the confusion there are straight White and mainland Asian males who also vote to discriminate against themselves when they vote Democratic. I assume that they are either “feminists”, extreme environmentalists, or they are communists who want to control everyone’s lives. The majority of Americans do not belong to one of the special interest groups. It just doesn’t make sense. Maybe our liberal friends can explain it?
"I could have ended the war in a month. I could have made North Vietnam look like a mud puddle."
"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them."

I disagree here. I understand the heart of conservatism to be individual responsibility. The Liberal stance is for government to take of care things. I would think a purely conservative society would lead to MORE freedom, not less. I may be wrong in my view but many people see similarities in socialism and liberalism and certainly socialist societies as we have known them have not enjoyed the freedoms that we do.

It means a lot of whites are voting democratic--especially white women. The dims can't win the election with the black vote alone because blacks are only 12% of the population. The state of New York has a nearly 10% state income tax on top of city income tax, 8.5% sales tax, federal income tax and social security tax and property tax. That means that if you make 60K/year in New York, well over 50% of your income goes to taxes. How can you not vote democratic? Then if you pay another 10% tithe to your church... It's tough to go against the grain there.
What baffles me most is why is the republican party committing suicide by allowing 4,000 votes/day to come across the U.S./Mexican border that are going to vote democratic. Can anybody answer that one?

Too much corporate money being given to campaigns. Big business likes cheap labor. That's the only reason I can think of. I wish ANYBODY would shut down the illegal immigration highway. If the republican's did it, I think they would steal away some votes from the democratic party. Surely the unions want illegal immigration stopped and many blue collar Americans do too.

I think the answer to your quetion may be multi fold, and the answers build on themselves:
For generations, the government has provided an increasing amount of support (read that $$$ handouts) in exchange for votes.
And for generations folks have chosen to live a lazy life of being on the dole rather than taking care of themselves.
So my opinion is that it is too easy to be a liberal and too hard to be a conservative.
So it would appear that the real answer is that our country has gotten lazy...
But do not fear, recessions tend to solve this problem; and we will see one sooner than you may realize...

A conservative society would mean no voting rights for women, little or no civil rights for minorities, a revocation or degradation of the bill of rights, unchecked discrimination, no Miranda rights and overall, a repressive regime that wants to regulate all social behavior and peep into your bedroom as well.
More freedom? Laughable.
What societies can you point out that have been liberal socialists?I may be wrong in my view but many people see similarities in socialism and liberalism and certainly socialist societies as we have known them have not enjoyed the freedoms that we do.

LOL
Geer is telling you here that all these things flowed from the Government. That no individual was stupid enough to ever join a fight by force or gun to guarantee these freedoms and rights.
Well, he's correct about that, liberals won't. Their more concerned with getting in your wallet.

A conservative society DOESN"T want that kind of regulation as I see it. Pure conservatism would say the individual is responsible for him/herself and that many regulations are simply unneeded government interferance.
If liberalism says everybody is equal and should therefore share equaly in the fruits of society isn't that the same as communism and socialism?
