What kind of money can one expect in that area? Thought about moving there many years ago and called a few shops but the money was way less .

Somewhere between $15-$20/hr dependent on experience and attitude. But I have seen it higher. Never more than $25/hr.

You can make more than $25/hour, but its going to be in the industrial/comm.
And no state income tax here.
