Lennox Furnace from the 1950's, thought you guys might think it's cool.

Takes me back to my first years in the field. Those beasts were new then, energy hogs, but easy to work on, quality consruction, I would'nt be surprised if they could last a century. Most common call was thermocouples and delayed ignition(cast iron burners needed cleaned). Evrybody knew how to take care of belts-you had to change em on your car too. Not so sure about rollout, the hx was cast and realy heavy,most likley delayed ignition. Heck, I'm about the same age and have scorch marks around my orifices too. I haven't seen a lowboy like that, but I used to regularly see some Lennox and Carrier upflow furnaces, from the early 50's, that had the blower in the bottom, with the heat exchanger and evaporator coils side by side, with separate duct connections out of the top of them so you could have separate heating and cooling duct systems, or just transition them both into the same duct system.
They had a lever that would move a damper to direct airflow from the blower through either the heating or the cooling side.
It's been a good 13-14 years since I've seen one, wish I had some pictures.

Don't know about now, but, you used to see some crazy looking Lennox stuff, you could buy modular. Crawled under a house one time and I was confronted by a gaspack! Modular heating section, modular cooling section, all vented, modular blower section, all sized for the application. Any mod. to fit the space. And it worked, and worked well.
