It's called teaching critical thinking skills.
It's called varying perspective and context.

Sooo...Calling the terrorists, who are blindingly consumed by hatred of the western (and in particularly the US) example of freedom and democracy; "freedom fighters" is an exercise in critical thinking?
And the slaughter of 6 million jews is not genocide but rather a refreshing, cleansing of the May Queen? Is this the "varying perspective and context" you refer to?
Is this one of those ultra progressive thoughts so advanced it will be comprehended only by a handful of card carrying uber progressive liberals? Sure hope it doesn't spread and infect the little children...

Yes.
No, but then you were stomping a strawman. And the slaughter of 6 million jews is not genocide but rather a refreshing, cleansing of the May Queen? Is this the "varying perspective and context" you refer to?
Oh, anybody with reasonable intelligence, minimal logic skills and not rabidly partisan would have no trouble comprehending these points. Is this one of those ultra progressive thoughts so advanced it will be comprehended only by a handful of card carrying uber progressive liberals?
I believe high School students are intellectually sophisticated enough to grasp the lessons here.Sure hope it doesn't spread and infect the little children...

So calling terrorists who bombed the WTC freedom fighters and telling the kids that those murderous Muslims zealots are going to heaven for their killing innocent Americans is "critical thinking skills" geer? You are a first class anti-American and should be deported and if a citizen have your citizenship revoked put on Homeland Securities "Don't fly list" along with the FBI's watch list. Thank you very much
"LeBlanc said the students were told that they could no longer use the terms suicide bomber or terrorist. Instead, they were instructed to use the words “freedom fighters.
This teacher taught her that a freedom fighter is when they give their life for the Holy War – and that they’re going to go to heaven,” she told Fox News. “They were saturating these kids in Islam and my daughter is an American Christian child.”"I could have ended the war in a month. I could have made North Vietnam look like a mud puddle."
"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them."

Perspective would be the key distinction. When an American is not free to study history from a different perspective are they truly "free" with all of their "liberties" intact. As a side note doesn't everyone know that the victors get to write history according to their wishes?

I'm sure the American Muslims are being taught how wonderful the Jews and Christians are. Why are we teaching religion in public school anyway? Before you say we're not, why dress the kids in burqas? We live in America.I don't give a rats a$$ that classrooms resemble different parts of the world. The kids need to be taught the American perspective. Here's an idea. Instead of teaching tolerance, lets teach math, and science, and english, and a skillset that will advance our children. Let's teach the kids to think like leaders instead of followers. Lets teach the kids about hard work and the value of a dollar. Let the kids make up their own minds as they grow up and walk thru this life about how they feel about other races and religions.

How free were these kids to make up their own minds, or to consider different perspectives; when they were instructed to call islamist terrorists freedom fighters and refer to the holocaust as ethnic cleansing? That sounds like brain washing propaganda to me.
Perhaps we didn't get the whole story, but I don't see that they were teaching any other perspective than that of the far left progressives. My apologies to the left leaning among us - but this is not an example of leaning but rather falling over, p*ss drunk on the coolaid.
Maybe next week they will teach another perspective and balance things out...but I really doubt it.

Well geer at least I was taught in an "American" school and by good parents and grand parents where we learned about "America" the land of the free and our Western Christian heritage. I suspect you got your education the same way Obama did by a Marxist mentor who schooled you in the ways of socialism and Marxism.
You have learned well congratulations. That should earn you a ticket out of the country to another country of your choice if I was in power. Thank you, thank you very much"I could have ended the war in a month. I could have made North Vietnam look like a mud puddle."

My wife and daughter are public school teachers. That is until this year when my daughter changed to a private school out of displeasure with the public school system.
In the public school system both were prevented from teaching the U.S. Constitution to their students. What does that tell you about the system and free thinking?
The principal actually came into the classroom in both cases and stopped them. He did not see what they were saying. He simply said you are not to teach a unit on the Constitution period!
