closed aop threads because un authorized poster?

when someone reply's to a thread in the aop section and they are not allowed to, why does it get closed? it looks like it only happens when a certain mod catches it. is this the way it is supposed to work?

Look at the date. Is it an old thread from some years back?

    This.

If someone digs up an old thread, I'll typically close it.

If it is a newer thread, I'll leave it open

If you think that I've done so in error, PM me with a link and I'll go have a look at it.
