Plastic drain pans have a melting point. If that point is exceeded, there is something wrong. What is the temperature rise of the system? What type of system? Filtration?

There are millions of plastic drain pans on furnaces, so you need to look for why the problem exists.

I have seen it when there is a hole in the heat exchanger. Also you should check the static pressure, airflow, temperature rise, gas pressure and combustion. These measurements should point you directly to the problem.

Yer right. That drain pan was designed for use in air handlers only. I thought they were the black ones.
