Jace version 3.0.106.1 upgrade issue
I am trying to upgrade this FX40 to version 3.6 and when commissioning with my FX Workbench 4.0 it says i do not have the core software. I figured i need to do it in steps since it is old but my laptop is new and i don't have the older version installed.
I installed 2.0 and copied my license file over but it does not work as this install is getting a unique host ID number.
It is a Win7 laptop. Anyone have an idea on how i can get the older software to work with my current license or know how i can get to my end result upgrading the Jace?
Thank you,
-Ken

I dont think fx40s can be upgraded to that version, I would replace it with an fx60.

I don't think your license file will work with older versions either. I think they are locked based on the rev number. You might also have this (see attachment) going on as well."Fortunately, I keep my feathers numbered for just such an emergency." Foghorn Leghorn

There is a memory issue with the FX40. Going above FX version 1.2 can be a big problem. That is the release you are starting at. There is an article in the Facility explorer FSC database that explains all about it. I don't have it here, but you supplier should be able to get it for you.

Dont upgrade that to 3.6 unless you want a big brick. Memory will never handle it/

Bah! I guess i'm not upgrading it then. I figure the host ID thing is due to the 1.2 version being 32bit only and the newer one having a 64bit installer.
Thanks everyone for the feedback.

You can install the older version of workbench on your laptop if you have the software. I am pretty sure the licensing will allow you to run older versions. I know I can , but I have been installing each one along the way.
If you do not have the matching workbench just use the embedded workbench when working on it. There can be problems when adding things from a newer workbench to an older release. Been There Done That. You can link stations and pass data from stations at different releases over the Niagara network. I also think you can use the station copier to upload the old station with a newer workbench. I would not try to go the other way though.

On my old WinXP laptop i had all the versions installed and just copied the license file between them. I think the issue is as shown by ControlsInMT since the old version does not have a 64 bit installer; it is polling different info from my laptop to create the host ID different from the one the 4.0 software generated.
I was going to use someone elses winXP computer today to do the upgrade except that everything points not not upgrading a 128MB memory FX40 beyond the FX Workbench 2.2 version (which is like Tridium 3.3).
