My wife is all jazzed up to swap out our slowly failing 50 gallon tank heater with a new tankless model (Paloma PHH-32RDV Natural Gas) but the sticking point I have run into is our only 1 year old Aprilaire 600 humidifier.
From the research that I've done, since the 600 is installed on the return side of our furnace (and no easy way to put it on the output side) it MUST be hooked up to the hot water line. Once we go tankless of course there won't be enough water draw from the humidifier to activate the tankless unit (and not sure that I would want it turning off and on all the time to service a humidifier).
This is in danger of scrubbing the whole deal unless I can find a fairly cost effective solution to the problem that won't be a maintenance headache down the road.
Is my best option to simply install a very small tank heater just for the Humidifier... like one of the little 3-5 gallon electric jobs?
