4. Accuracy

Final decision is the UEI DTM 304. Four K-type inputs.
NIST Calibration Certificate.
Self explanatory operation.
Fits easily in one hand.
Temp off set, back light, big screen and numeral.
Made in Korea.
Less than $175 shipped.

UEi Oh Brother 5646. My dual input that won is the worst thermocouple thermometer I ever used. Very susceptible to EMI. Did you check on the UEi thermistor version or did you really want the 4 input that bad.

I was expecting the UEI bias to arise. That was why my choice was an NIST certified accuracy.

To be honest I must have missed the thermistor model you mention...I doubt I would have made a diff choice, however. I did make some compromises as I stated in the post.

Thermocouples are faster reacting...this UEI is very fast.

Is the NIST cert just for the programing? It says +/-2˚ between 64˚ and 82˚meter accuracy and doesn't include thermocouple error. Well at least it has the offset. Mine has no way to fake the reading.

No bias 5646. I was going to buy that exact meter when it came out. The one I got to use ended that but I still use my DL389

Bought an DT20A thermistor differential meter today too.

Ok do they have a air specific probe? I didn't see them. This type reacts very quickly to temp. changes like you were saying you liked. Cooper has a wide selection of sensors.

Yes it has an air specific probe..that's why I bought it. The probes I had to dig around the site to find, but UEI said they had a ton of them.

Time to add another hard case to the truck...sigh.
