I have a couple questions. Is there a minimum height requirement for the flue pipe before using an elbow at the top of the furnace for a 80% furnace? Does code dictate using a bottom return box as opposed to using side return? thanks

Depends on the furnace and the mfg. you need to look at the install instructions.

code does not dictate how your ductwork is. unless you have a open return in the same room as the appliances.

depends on manufacturer with the venting. You should be able too. I would let my combustion analyzer tell me if i could or not.

Bottom return vs side return will usually depend on how much air the furnace has to move. What BTU rating is the furnace?
