Liebert training
Anybody have any information binders they would like to share via email? Fairly new to liebert systems and just want to become more familiarized with CRAC units.

Can't find your address. If you search for liebert system 3 manual, liebert ds manual, liebert icom manual, liebert minimate manual, and liebert challenger manual on Yahoo, they will come up in pdf form for downloading. Those will cover 90% of the lieberts out there, and give just about all the info you should need if you read from cover to cover.

The correct term is "ECU", or Environmental Control Unit"! I have most all the manuals for the past 30 years, but they are all packed away deep inside my storage unit at this time. I would suggest you contact your local Liebert dealer, and request the manuals, and or specific diagram you require, to get you up and running. I'm sure they would be happy to fax you a copy of what you need.

While to other two members try to determine the correct unit name, let me give you a little overview of what you should be trying to accomplish. The idea behind the ECU, CRU, or CRAC units is to control the temperature and humidity within the data processing room. The ideal set points are 70 degrees f, and 50 percent humidity. What this does is keep the static electricity to a minimum, keep the printer paper fresh, and of course keep the main frame units running cool. Do you have house cooling feeding your processing room? If you do, and your Lieberts are of the Direct expansion type, you will need to adjust your set points accordingly, to prevent short cycling. Under your raised floor, should be some type of leak detection, to warn you of a leak that cannot be seen. You should also have a fire suppression system, that has a 2 stage activation, and will warn you of any burnt motors, belts etc. I forgot to say, if you have water cooled condensers, they need to be have some attention given to the tube bundles on a annual maintenance schedule.

In all fairness he was responding to the OP.
And he mentions a basic point that gets us " old dogs " at times " cooling and humidifying ". A paradox for sure and when you first see this it throws you away from air conditioning fundamentals that you learned in school.
Computer room air conditioning ( CRAC ) is often a hit or miss , the typical server room seems to have 10 times the capacity that it really needs to. This makes it difficult to correctly charge these systems as well. With the receivers and head pressure control options on these machines the sight glass is really the best method of charging or determining correct charge ( and I hate sight glasses on air conditioning systems ).
Cooling , humidifying , de - humidifying are sequences that you need to understand when dealing with these things. I would think that Liebert ( Emerson ) has a lot of information available online , if not I'm sure that SATS ( Stulz ATS ) does.

Just did my first 2 liebert startups Friday. Two challenger series units with the ICOM controller. They seem to be really nice units. The factory startup sheets took awhile to get done mostly because I was unfamiliar with the equipment, but it didn't go too bad. I actually enjoy working on unfamiliar equipment. It made for an interesting day.

duckman373 is correct, all you have to do is search what ever unit you want on almost any search engine and you will get pdfs. If you dont find the info in the initial pdf keep looking because Liebert has 2 to 3 manuals for each unit. ie installation manuals, user manuals.

ICOM is great, being able to test everything independently all through the display, but at the same time there's ALOT more to learn.
