VH1 doesn't know music
Saw the countdown of the 20 greatest metal bands and were they way off!
I was in my teens when those 80's metal bands were popular but wasn't into itas much as other kids. But even I could have done better at making up the list!
20. W.A.S.P.
19. Quiet Riot
18.Queensryche
17.Twisted Sister
16.Ratt
15.Slayer
14.Skid Row
13.Def Leppard
12.Poison
11.Motley Crue
10.Megadeath
9.Dio
8.Motorhead
7.Kiss
6.Ozzy Osbourne
5.Judas Priest
4.Black Sabbath
3.Iron Maiden
2.AC/DC
1.Metallica
I think this show was a plug for Ozzy Osbourne, seeing that he was on the chart 3 times. Ozzy shouldn't have been on the chart alone cause he is not a band, he is a person.
How can Motorhead, Dio and Megadeath beat Motley Crue, Poison and Def Leppard?
And Guns and Roses wasn't even on the list. Come on!
Here's my list Top 10
1. Guns and Roses
2.Metallica
3.AC/DC
4.Motley Crue
5.Def Leppard
6.Poison
7.Warrant
8.Whitesnake
9.Van Halen w/ David Lee Ross
10.QueensrycheLast edited by chaard; 01-06-2007 at 11:15 PM.

It was a metal band list. Both of those lists contain several bands that I wouldn't classify as metal.
Merry Christmas

I agree.
10-2 aren't metal bands in my opinion on VH1's list. Those are hard rock bands
Kiss never seemed heavy metal.
I only threw AC/DC in there cause I like them.
Just a list I threw together. We're awl pawthetic and kweepy and can't get giwrls. That's why we fight wobots.

I like your list better than VH1's list but it is more hair bands than metal.

The only thing I see on VH1 right now is an Osbournes marathon...

I didn't see the show. But a main problem is what is considered a "hair band, a metal band, or just a rock band etc. ?????
Black sabbath was around twenty five years before "hair band was even coined. And if they are willing to go back to the Sabbath what about Led Zeppelin? I like your list better than VH1's. My only question is your spelling of David Lee Roth. (Ross) ? Thats a pretty big typo for your ninth fav band.
Its all personal opinions, but Dio does have one of the most powerful metal voices of all time. You know his voice is good, cause he certainly isn't making it on his looks.
Keep Rockin!!!

I think Blue Oyster Cult coined the phrase "Heavy Metal" and they get no respect
