Well I heard sheet metal screws are in short supply. Thats pretty normal aorund here. I just remount them when I find them.

Looks like a door bell transformer. A lot of people think the furnace is a good place to steal power from.

There's a bolt in one of the mounting holes. So, it looks like he at least "thought" about mounting it. Haha.

Never did care for the transformers that were shipped with humidifiers. Would much rather expect a foot mount one these days.

aaaa....that screw you see there in the picture is so one can mount it into a electrical knockout.
