Commercial Ruud Water Heater eats thermocouples

almost like clock work , every 4 months the pilot will not light , replace TC , good to go another 4 months

Replaced gas valve 3 years ago , same problem

What in the world could it be ? I use the standard Honeywell TC 36" you find anywhere

What's your inlet pressure? What's up with that nasty room? Do you have adequate makeup air and no source of depressurization? What about the rest of the venting? Have you tested at the floor with a combustion analyzer to ensure its not suffocating by CO2 displacing the O2?

Next time your at the parts house check on the Husky thermocouples. I haven't had any issues with thermocouples sense I switched brands. There about three times the cost but well worth the money.

Pilot flame looks nice .... keeps it cherry red

If it is keeping it cherry red, that may be a big part of the problem. Over heating a thermocouple can DRASTICALLY reduce its life, and "cherry red" is way to hot.
The pilot flame should also only be hitting the last 1/2 inch or so of the thermocouple. If the flame is hitting much lower than that, it can make less voltage, and shorten its life.

Outlet was 3.7 , didnt check inlet , dont have combustion analyzer , venting on its own flue out the roof

Nasty room is a utility room in a pizza joint beside 2 walk-ins , entrance is always open

That makes sense about the glowing cherry red being a problem. Its hitting halfway down the rod. Thats probly my issue.

Any other appliance I've seen its hitting the tip.

If this one burns out im going to try a Husky
