If you've really been in the trade for 25 years then you'd understand why by what you posted, its hard to believe you've been in the trade for 25 years.

Another HVAC-to-aviation parallel.

There are pilots who have "thousands of hours of experience."

However, the way they fly, they have just been repeating the 100 hour mark, over and over, refusing to let the additional experience bring them additional wisdom or insight.

Why did he stop at just two OD units to try and solve the problem. Lets try another brand "Ameristar" and when this fails too...

Wow, I wish I could install a complete split system in 3 hours...

For me its more like 2 days, i would think that if you replaced all the old low voltage wiring from the indoor unit to the thermostat, and from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit that should of fixed the problem.

The next step for me anyway would be looking for wires chaffed at the entry and exits of the units and at the thermostat.

I have seen units blow transformers due to Shorted RV, Shorted Gas Valve, and a shorted contactor solenoid.
