wow..........what the hell..... who did this.....
Don't need a lot of words for this.
Here's the result of a poorly installed flue.
Somehow it was decided that the repair would be... Doing the exact same thing, only with 30GA metal!
Fail
wow..........what the hell..... who did this.....
it was working.... played with it.... now its broke.... whats the going hourly rate for HVAC repair
So who's idea was it to repair it, without actually fixing anything?
Even if the vent pipe was routed correctly, single wall pipe is the wrong material for a vent pipe in an unconditioned space.
The gas piping into the furnaces is pretty retarded too, as are a number of other aspects of that installation.
Is that common in your area to run gas in copper? How about the line voltage off an outlet?
Gotta say at least there is plenty of room up there to stand.
How in the hell does something like that pass in the first place? If I see something like that I do one of two things, fix it right or run.
It's not what you're capable of doing that defines you, it's what you do on a daily basis.
I came to the conclusion today that the reason I was feeling nauseous was because it had finally sunk in that I worked for a company that just doesn't care. I've tried making excuses in my mind, lack of knowledge, lack of experience but it hit me today, it's lack of care.
I kept thinking I could change the way things were here but you can't help those who don't care.
So I'm working on the resume(can't do the little marks above the "e" without it glitching) this weekend and hopefully I get to move on soon because I can't stomach this anymore.
Good luck to you Mason. I don't think the follow-up is atrocious enough to justify abandoning ship. You might wear off on them yet
30 gauge? That's not adequate for venting! And that long horizontal run from the furnace won't work either. Did you test the draft on that after it was assembled? I would not expect it to work.
You're right about wanting to move on.
It's a lot more than just this one time, it's a weekly thing at a minimum. Having to go toe to toe with ownership over being asked to violate EPA regulations or minimum code wears on you and it's been 3 1/2 years now, if there isn't improvement in 3 1/2 years it just isn't going to happen.
Thank you though. I hope to find a company that cares as much or more about excellent work and ethics as I do, if they don't that they want to and I can help get them there.
3 1/2 years is certainly more than enough time to give them. I won't even ask about the EPA violations... I hope it's not what I'm thinking
