Scotsman CU50 Drain Question

I'm putting a CU50 in my house. I don't do ice machines - except at my house that is. Question is this: It drains with 5/8" vinyl tubing. I was just going to drain it under floor then to outside. Do I need any type of vent or p-trap? If no p-trap, then do I put a screen over the end to keep insects out?

I would trap it by making a loop in the tubing under the house. You don't want outside air entering your ice bin. If possible, put a tee in the line and run a length of tubing up several inches in the rear of the machine as a vent.

I didn't think about it freezing. Make sure it can't freeze up in the crawl. Also make sure your vent line is high enough that if the bin fills with water due to frozen/clogged drain that the vent can't overflow. You could make a trap loop at the floor IN the house and make sure it is pitched steeply to the outside once it goes into the crawl space. It could still freeze but it should be much less likely.
