desuperheater setup question
I'm currently using a Tranquility 27 with a two tank water heating system. I've got it set up as per page 16 of this manual. My question is about shutoff valve #4 in the two tank system. According to the instructions, shutoff valve #4 should remain open during operation. Can this be right? Wouldn't this setup prevent some incoming cold water from going through the heat pump?

Having valve 4 closed will prevent the desuperheat pump from drawing from the tank and only from the domestic cold line which is a closed line ,not a loop. It needs to draw water out of the tank in order to reheat it. Having it closed will burn out the pump over time. The manual is correct.
