    Replace belt on erv energy recovery ventilator. Help??

    Name: erv picture.jpg Views: 243 Size: 30.2 KBHas anyone replaced the belt on a erv? This one is made by Airxchange Inc. and is mounted in a Trane ahu. The wheel is probably 6' diameter. What do you have to do to get the belt around the wheel???? Remove the bearing and try to slip the belt around the wheel axle??? Any tips or tricks would be appreciated. See pic.

    I talked to airxchange because I am currently cleaning mine they say you have to pull the bearing.
    Certified parts changer.

    Well Ill give it a go. Hopefully the bearing slides off and doesnt need to be pulled

    It should slide off then double the belt and insert. They look pretty clean though.

    With the wheels I have worked on they are either a link belt or a B belt with a clip. You buy the belt by the foot and need a tool for the clip

    Believe me I thought about the link belt. I think I'll try the OEM belt and see how it goes,but would like a link belt for a temp fix. Wonder if the link belts last?

    Ditto for me. We have installed and still service 3 SEMCO air handlers with 8 1/2' ERV wheels. They use link belts that are clipped on site.

    Not sure but without checking tomorrow but it's a fast spinning wheel. Probably turns 12-15 times a minute

    i have ordered from belts from oem and they sent link belt in place of original. I just taped one end to wheel and spun it around till it came to whre i could connect it

    I remember years ago using an orange belt that you would cut and heat weld together.
    Doesn't sound right now that I write it...but that's what I remember doing. I think they were Carnes.

    Goog the model number, It has to be in the manual. If you chose link make sure it's from them. And save the packaging receipt.
