Found this just 10 days after a repair on a 5' section 4 1/8" suction line going through the ceiling. It's an R-22 system. 2nd picture is the wall facing the unit. Needed 3 gallons of oil as well. Third and fourth pictures are the "original" problem...condensor making noise...mmmm...where's the missing fan? Oh, here it is, in the condensor coil...still running!

That's the first isolator I've seen that looks like that. All the ones we use are braided.

Factory job, Federal Pacific condensor, Carlyle compressor. Very old unit, maybe 18-20 years?

I was on top of the condensor removing the condensor fan that had broken the bracket and fallen into the condensor. Me, my apprentice, our tools and or vans got a good oil bath.

Ha! that was 1/4 full of floor dry, old oil filters and rain water from an oil line rupture the previous summer. The apprentice had quite a day removing all the trash. Not a very well kept piece of equipment.

Customer on this. Best I can tell is that the dirty coil, broken condensor fans and years of neglect finally caught up. The vibrasorb may have gotten a little too hot when it was originally installed and was weak. I'm not sure what the head pressure was when it let go but the HP was set at 300.
