Conversion from BTU to Tons. Round up or round down
I notice that many 3 ton systems are 34000 btu while a 33000 btu unit is listed as 2.5.
I need to verify (for a larger rebate) that 40,000 btu is actually 3.5 tons NOT 3.0
Is there an "authoritative" chart listing where the crossover is from one size to the next?

there are matchup sheets available from the manufacturer, vendor, and contractor to show design sensible and latent energy for a specific combination. ask for that.

Thanks, but it was a simple question, "is there a chart?" I scoured everywhere before posting here, and found nothing. I'm not a homeowner working on my own system. I train technicians and QA their work. Some of the folks where I work process Energy Starฎ rebates on new central systems. They would like a chart so that they don't have to keep calling me in the field to ask. I was trying to help them. Our approved contractors certainly don't need me calling for anything sensible. Thanks again.
