Underrstanding CPH and Anticipator settings
Would someone be kind enough to explain the terms CPH and anticipator as it relates to the HVAC thermostat. I have searched the forum and I remain confused about what these settings actually do and the mechanics behind their functionality. For example if the CPH is set at 4 and the thermostat is calling for 10 degrees of heat - some believe that the furnace will run cycles of - on 15 minutes/ off 15 minutes until the desired temp is reached. I do not believe that is how my system (2 stage gas furnace/2 stage heat pump) works. By the way my system functions just fine and I have no intention of playing with these settings but I have an inquisitive mind and I like to understand things. Thanks
