    Checking Heat exchanger

I am just curious..... Does your company or the company you work for include checking the heat exchanger in the diagnostic fee or is it a separate charge?

For a typical heating clean and check, we include it in our price. Its a safety issue if the customer has a cracked heat exchanger.

This is a good question. How many techs carry a snake camera? Are most techs just doing a visual inspection? How many are using combustion analyzers for a inspection?
Also, what's the issue with Trane 90% furnaces? What section of the HX is having problems? Does it include American Standard?

I posted a picture of the trane primary h/x crack a while back. It is underneath the entry of the flame where the metal is crimped. I will find the thread and bring it up to the top of the forum. The secondary h/x are just about always cracked as well.

We are required to check every heat exchanger on every call no matter if it is a tune up or service call including a/c season at no extra charge.

We do the same, its a liability - being the last licensed technician to service the appliance it becomes our responsibility to ensure its running safely.
