    Thanks for the thread,

    My Gibson Model #JT4BD-024K is also moaning very loudly and I'm positive its a defrost mode "moan" due to me only hearing it when it's at or below 32 degrees. Did you find a resolution purplenova?

    Defrost cycles only last for 15-20 mins every 30-90 minutes of run time.

    Defrosts cycles usually last for a few minutes.

    Im pretty sure they auto terminate at 15 - 20 depending on manufacturer.

    I should have said only last as long as 15-20 but should terminate sooner depending on ice/frost .

    If it uses a timed defrost then the defrost should terminate when the sensor reopens @ approx. 60* or a set time (10-15 mins) whichever happens first.
