You can get R22 its just really expensive now. It could be something really simple or something really expensive but you won't know until you pay the service/diagnostic charge to find out. Hope all goes well.
Sorry, prices are not allowed.
Just call a hvac company out to take a look at it! While we are limted to what you post and can't troubleshoot or dig. A system from the Internet. While the dig. Charge might not be something that you want to pay it is needed to find out what is going on with your system.
As others have stated it could be simple or something more complex but either way it needs to looked at by professional hvac company to dig. The problem and offer you a solution to repair the unit.
Call a different company they sound like a sales team. You need a technician. The r22 can be recovered and reused.
It is customary for a professional hvac company to charge a service fee to troubleshoot your system, however some companies will subtract that toward the repair. Your system, if it is a heatpump which it sounds like it is, may have a freon leak. When owning a home repairs should always be budgeted for, and when it comes to heat pumps try going with a highly reputable company becaust HP require a higher level of experience to repair. The age of your equipment and condition as well as the maintenance of it play an important role in the overall decision of a simple repair or replacement. Check your warranties also to determine if it is still covered.
hope your not right about reversing valve as for this old of heat pump, it would be a death call, too expensive to repair versus the normal life of a heat pump, R22 was deemed to be a contributor to global warming, and making the hole in the ozone bigger so the united states banned its manufacture last year, we still have millions of pounds available to service equipment but its became very expensive!, its a fact that as a homeowner things might pop up and even living paycheck to paycheck sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and call a professional, this is one of those times, Id start saving now to replace the entire system, oil is not a cheap heat source, even as a backup!, you can check the airflow temp yourself, on heat pump you should see something over 85 degrees depending upon the weather and your new homes insulating ability, many of these types of systems have a sensor outside and a setting at where the oil would take over because of the low output temps the heat pump is capable of producing at low outdoor temps, it may be doing exactly what it was designed to do, a home here in eastern washington typically has backup set to come on when the outdoor temp gets to 30 or 35, exactly the reason Id personally want to rid myself of oil backup if you live where you experience these kind of temps, hope the babies warm, at least with oil it should be!, just not cheaply
baby is worm we moved her into are room got a electric heater we ran out of oil last night im going to call a couple places today see how much for a new system and get a loan
do u still i would need a oil backup if i live in nc in mt airy it a 500ft house what size would i need
