    What the heck!!

    I guess they thought the kitchen had enough air.... Cut the wood, left the sheetrock and just left the box open in the attic.

    Do people often make there own ceiling boots???

    Pretty bad when any thing touches your boot and now there's a gaping hole in the ceiling to the attic.

    Fixed one kinda like this a few months ago. Boots not mounted and some pretty huge gaps. Put some wood in to mount boots to and sealed boots to drywall.
