I feel sorry for every resi tech out there now who is going to get stuck with "Just replace the run cap its only $15 thats how much the part costs so thats how much Im going to pay."

I bet that a$$hat doesnt even know that the whole purpose of a capacitor is to offset the 90 degrees of current lag caused by the inductance of the motor to create a better power factor. But according to him a blistered top is the only sign that a capacitor has failed.

I wonder if his unit actually tripped high head and locked out and when he disconnected the power he cleared the code and voila the compressor starts again. Doesnt look like his has the manual reset though.
