Seems to me there is something other than a gun which needs to be looked at... that is... unless the politics of the situation are a power grab and not safety as is said.

Follow-up thought: Should the drug co's be held accountable???

If we are gonna blame something besides the person doing the crime... maybe we should blame the pills they take. And simple logic suggests blaming the makers of the pills. After all... the anti-gun crowd wants to blame the guns and then the gun manufacturers.

Logic needs to be applied without bias here... or it is not acceptable logic.

    Where lies the accountability?

Well... one could blame docs for irresponsibly prescribing drugs; and I agree there is some accountability that needs to happen there... Personally, after doing years (decades) of Biblical based counseling in the churches... I believe it is more a personal choice of what we listen to, believe, and live from.

Folks choose to believe things... and live from them; the result is habits of behavior... and those habits do not break easily.
IMO the issue is what we choose to believe... we need to be VERY careful what we allow to enter our ears and take residence between them.

So ultimately... the final responsibility lies with the individual... They need to realize only they can make or break their life.
Now it would help to get rid of govt safety nets that coddle irresponsibility... however IMO it will take a decade long DEPRESSION to do that.

Some of theis drugs mentioned even list thoughts of suicide as a side effect. Most people i know on anti-depressants i feel their depression is completely justified giving their life choices.

Might be hard to prove either way, but the argument would be that without the drugs the mentally challenged would be even worse.

Not really. Being depressed isn't being mentally challenged. Very few of these shooters have major mental problems, like Jpsmith1cm said, the doctors hand them out like candy.

It seems to me that IF they did NOT have mental problems before taking meds, they had mental problems AFTER taking meds.......

Which is it? The actual drugs or the lack of follow through on getting the treatment correct? That's the big question.
Don't worry zombies are looking for brains, you're safe...

But was it not the FDA that stated, with full medical knowledge and testing, that all these drugs were safe.
