    Oh $HIT

Leak detection system was in alarm but they couldn't find the leak. Now the fun begins.

I found one like that about 2 years ago... 11 year old Trane, dripping liquid refrigerant out of the cooling lines right below the motor. The leak made a yellow tinted oily snow cone about 4" tall right on top of the evaporator. Unit was about 300# short.

Somebody opened a valve by accident, found it with 110 degree water going through the cooler and 145 psi pressure on the refrigerant side. Figure about 600 lbs is missing on a 3000 lb charge.

One nice thing about the old refrigerants,r113, I used to try for hours with hot boiler water to get the pressure up for a winter leak check. I don't miss r113 at all.
