    location of a heat pump?

    What about installing a new heat pump.

    In milder climates (PNW):

    South side=blazing hot sun for 2 months a year.....
    versus
    East side (longer run)=shaded cooler. Still no difference ?

    As stated above, as soon as you have air movement, ie. fan running and pulling air through coil, your surface temperature on the coil will be almost the same as if it was shaded. The amount of solar gain will be so minimal, you won't notice any savings.
