I've just noticed that my new fireplace is creating a new problem: over heated attic = melting snow and huge ice build up on gutters and large icicles that have icicles. I was thinking that I could use a heat pump to cool the attic and transfer heat to the basement. Has anyone out there tried this already. I was looking at a heat pump on ebay http://www.ebay.ca/itm/251208897514?...84.m1438.l2649. This would solve the ice problem and the heating the basement problem. My house is about 2000 square feet on two floors. But I have no experience with heating. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.
