Good luck telling the customer they have to drop the 2000# VFD to repair the leaking 2nd or 3rd stage tang operator bellows. lol

Theres enough room to get in and do that as long as your not 350lbs . you could do an overhaul without removing the VFD as well if you had the height and or you could lift the pieces off over the condenser bundle . All depends on the install , but removing the VFD is easy its just very heavy on the big chillers .

Come on, those IGV actuators and omponents last forever and never need adjsutment. You'll never need ot get to that compressor thingy in there for a rebuild. I'm sure that a company that installs a panel like that, will never, ever surge the machine ot death or bust a tube and flood that thing.

This would be funny, but a unit-mounted AFD starter is factory installed on the chiller in practically the same exact position. Or at least it was about 3-4 years ago. I had to go over the top and slide down behind the starter to check vane linkage on initial startup. It is so wide that it stretches almost to the control panel like this one. Couldn't believe it ...

Doing startup on a 1080 with an AFD like that this week... They are selling them like crazy in my district.

Nobody seems to be selling water cooled centrifugals like they used to, around here. Large air cooled seems to be favored now. Makes me sad ....

I got a feelling when that new Series S hits later this year, we are going to be starting a lot of those up. There are a lot of aging <400t centrifugals that are ready to be sent to chiller heaven in this area. Sometimes, I feel like I am working for a chiller hospice and that my job is to make their transition into the next world as painless as possible. lol
