I would suggest removing the jumper and let the stat do it..... if you have a 2 stage gas valve and W1-w2 is jumped you now have a single stage valve.....
I have a 7 year old Trane xl80 2 stage furnace and recently purchased a new thermostat (a Nest). I noticed the old thermostat was installed jumping W1 and W2 at the motherboard of the furnace. My question is this: Should I keep it jumped and let the furnace handle the stages or remove the jumper and hook up the w1 and w2 wires on the t-stat? Thanks guys!
