Gas furnace shuts down before reaching requested temperature.

I have an older Day and Night Gas furnace that will not keep running. It must be reset after a few minutes of running. Once reset, the blower will start up, followed by the gas being ignited by the pilot light. The furnace will run for a few minutes and then shut off, requiring the reset button to be pushed before it will start again.

Check air filters and make sure furniture isn't blocking vents. Other than that it's time to call a pro.

    what are you "resetting"?

as stated, call a pro before you cause damage, injury or worse.
The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and stamps EVER.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals". Their stated reason for this policy "... the animals become dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Could be a bad heat exchanger, and the reset you are pushing is a roll out switch that is doing its job and protecting you and your family. have it checked by a service company.
