Yes, it's a steelhead. Nice one too. Still nice and bright. Good eating. Fire up the BBQ.

I'm a bass guy myself, but I do get to some salmon and brown trout fishing on occasion.

I rented a house on a ranch located on the North Umpqua River for many years. One of the best summer steelhead rivers in the country. I could walk out my back door and across the pasture to the fish on the river. When I wasn't working you could find me on the river fly fishing until dark. Nothing like catching a steelhead on a fly. Especially a dry fly. My Son still lives on the river and is a avid outdoors man.

it would be nice to catch steel in the summer instead of freezing my but off and dodging ice flows. i fish the great lakes tribs in the winter and the older i get the tougher it gets.

i havent been to the salmon river at all this year. almost went a few times but since i have a camp in erie pa, i just ended going there. all i have to do is walk across the road and i am on elk creek and steelhead. i have done a few pulaski trips over the years but always seem to pick a bad weekend and havent really had much success. also all the dsr and pay to fish stuff bugs me.
    when are you going?
